Kaya and welcome to term 2.   This promises to be a busy but enjoyable term, so hopefully everyone is relaxed and has recuperated after the break . I was lucky enough to spend a little bit of time relaxing..... Taking in some of the culture Hanging with some of the locals (including Steve from Seminyak) and eating....   We thought that it would be a good idea to start the term with a few reminders. Library: Library book exchange continues each Thursday for Year 5M, with Library bags required in order to borrow books,   Please support your child to remember their book bag, with students welcome to bring in their books and bags any day throughout the week and keep them in their tray. Headphones: Can you please make sure that your child has their headphones in class everyday. We use them on a regular basis, so it is important that they are in the room. Homework: Homework will continue to focus this term on reading and mental maths facts.  Please support your child to complete an

Kaya Year 5 parents. Good evening and welcome to week 9.  We are nearly there...already! Parent Interviews: Thank you for adapting to the new Parent Interview format. I found them extremely engaging and informative.  It was wonderful to meet some of you for the first time. If you have anything that requires further discussion, please feel free to contact us to arrange a meeting.  Stations of the Cross: This Thursday, the whole school will be going to the hall to take part in a Stations of the Cross service.  This will be a first for many but I am sure we will learn a lot about this special service. Swim Carnival: Several students have been invited to attend the Interschool Swimming Carnival which will be held on Tuesday.  If you child was invited, they will have received a note from Mrs Sinclair.  Please refer to this note and return the permission slips ASAP.  Any questions please email mandy.sinclair@cewa.edu.au  Headphones: Headphone in class are an integral tool when we are using o

Kaya Year 5 parents. Good evening and welcome to week 5.  It is mid-term and many people are starting to get tired, but we luckily have Swim Carnival this Friday and Monday off to recuperate. Homework: Homework came home today for this week.  Please support your child to complete their reading each night and mental maths practice....sometimes playing games with the relevant times table is good fun too! Parish Mass: This Wednesday, 5Mc will be walking to the Church with our Buddy Class 2 Mc to take part in the Mass.  Students can wear their sport uniform to make walking to the Church and back more comfortable. Swim Carnival: A note came home just a few weeks ago regarding swim trials (they were last Tuesday) and the upcoming Swim Carnival (Friday).  All information regarding the carnival is in that letter, but students will leave school on the bus at 8:45 so please ensure that you are on time.  They will need to be self sufficient with food, snack and water as there are no canteen facil

Kaya Year 5 parents. Firstly, thanks for all the support you gave your children over the last two weeks of swimming lessons.  All Year 5’s behaved beautifully at the beach and this has been one of the best years of swimming that I have been apart of.  Should any students complain about swimming lessons.....just remind them there are many things they could be doing rather than swimming somewhere like this..... Whiteboards: We placed A3 whiteboards on the booklist last year. Unfortunately, there are a number that have not come into the classes. We will be using them nearly every day for Spelling and Maths, so if your child has not brought their whiteboard in as yet, could you please chase these up as they are another great learning tool. Display Folders: Similarly, we placed a number of display folders on the booklist in place of exercise and scrap books.  This was done to save paper, minimise gluing and provide the opportunity for these folders to be used across a number of years.  Un

Welcome Everyone to a new school year....2024! Kaya and Welcome to 5M, Well, it is nearly the end of the summer holidays and time to return to school.  I hope you have been enjoying the break with your families and are well rested and rejuvenated.  We just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and pass on a little bit of information to ensure that the first few weeks back run smoothly for both you and your children.  As you will be well aware, you have entered the Year 5 team of Ms Lamotte and Mr McSevich.   Most of you will know Mr Mc as he has been at OLC for several years now.  During this time Mr Mc has taught years 3, 4 and 6....as well as the science specialist role.  This year he will be in Year 5Mc Wednesday to Friday and in the science Lab Monday and Tuesday.  On these days, Ms Lamotte will be teaching the wonderful Year 5Mc class....and probably sorting our both Mr Mc and Mr D as well! Miss Lamotte here- I am so excited to be part of the Year 5 team this year
